Artumnal Gathering 2011: Auction and Raffle Items


 

 

The Black Rock Arts Foundation is thrilled to offer this sneak peak at our amazing auction and raffle items!  We are very excited by the range of of exclusive opportunities and values that we can offer our supporters.

Our live auction will take place during dinner, beginning promptly at 8:00pm. Our silent auction will continue on until 11:30pm. Paddles will be assigned as you come in, be sure you register before the auction.

Raffle tickets will be sold all night at $5 for one, or $20 for 5.  Winners will be notified by phone and e-mail after the event and prizes mailed to the winners.

Bliss Dance Frame and Photograph

This one-of-a-kind steel frame was built by Katy Boynton, projects coordinator for Bliss Dance Sculpture, in the same style and using the same materials as the original piece. Bliss Dance was placed publicly by BRAF on Treasure Island in 2011, making it the first public art piece on the island since the World's Fair in the 1930's. This beautiful photograph was taken upon completion of the installation, by local photographer Russ Eddy.

Original temple builder David Best will submit a proposal for the temple at Burning Man for the first time in several years. A large-format print of his proposed temple embellished by hand painted details is inside this sealed tube, along with several surprise gifts. The tube, which you may take home tonight, is to stay sealed until Burning Man's 2012 temple is officially selected.

A Journey Through the Desert and Your Own Mind

Herman and Windham in their home filled with Burning Man-inspired art and decor in the Palm Desert, close to Joshua Tree and Palm Springs. Dr. Herman will supervise and analyze two neurovascular screenings at his Center there, they will accompany you on desert hikes, and Dr. Deb will serenade you with Shamonica's songs from "How to Survive the Apocalypse: A Burning Opera." Dates for the visit are negotiable, but it is recommended to come during the spring bloom, when the waterfalls and streams are full.

2008 Freestone Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Freestone Winery, in Northwest Sonoma County, was founded in 2000 and produced it's first vintage in 2006. Since then, it has become known for elegant, complex Pinot Noirs and biodynamic farming practices. Freestone says of this vintage: "The flavor profile is rich and jammy, yet also fresh and elegant, offering hints of tangerine zest, brandied fruit compote, dark truffles, allspice and peppercorns. The generous, lingering finish rounds out the experience and leaves the tongue pleasantly coated and ready for another sip."

Fawn Totem

The Totem Project was a theme inspired steel sculpture at Burning Man 2011.  The fawn, which represents the birth of innocence, was the first of seven totem animals, each representing a Rite of Passage.  The totem project and this piece were co-created by the team of Ruby Bettencourt, a jewelry and fashion designer and Jeff Howe, a building designer from Santa Rosa.
